Junior Livestock Auction
Plumas and Sierra County 4-H and FFA members will offer top quality market animals to the highest bidder. All animals are judged and pre-selected for the auction during the fair.
How can I support the livestock exhibitors?
1. REGISTER AS A BUYER AND PURCHASE A LOT
Come on Sunday morning and enjoy a complimentary Buyer's Breakfast and register for a Buyer's number. There will be a sale order provided and many enthusiastic livestock exhibitors who will share information about their market animal projects. Once you purchase a lot you have the option of specifying your custom cut and wrap preferences or being able to resale or donate the meat to a specific charitable organization.
There are options available to partner for purchase for 1/2 or 1/4 of an animal. Please contact Veronica Tilton at (530)258-1550 for help in finding another buyer who may cooperate to split a purchase.
2. CONTRIBUTE AN "ADD-ON" BID
If you wish to bump up the price that an individual or specific group of exhibitors receives you can declare an "Add-On" bid for that lot or lots. You will not receive any meat, but will increase the price that an exhibitor gets for their market animal.
"Add-On" declarations must be made and confirmed within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the auction.
3. SPONSOR THE AUCTION
There are many costs associated with executing the Junior Livestock Auction. Sponsorships for trucking, auctioneer, and other expenses are greatly appreciated and offset the costs that are deducted from the livestock exhibitor's checks.
